Crispy, sticky, salty, and absolutely DELICIOUS!
This could be served with a side of rice, as an appetizer, or my favorite, eating an entire pan to myself. Its so easy to make but be prepared to fight over the last piece with friends or family!
I have been really obsessed with Asian influenced food recently and this was a product of that obsession. I wanted something sticky, I wanted something salty, I wanted something light, and I wanted something easy to make. This was it and I am far from disappointed. This was so incredibly delicious that it might become a house staple!
Recipe Details
Ingredients for Tofu:
14oz of extra firm tofu
2 Tablespoons of cornstarch
1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil
Ingredients for Sauce:
1/4 cup of low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup of water
2 Teaspoons of brown sugar
2 garlic cloves minced
1/2 teaspoon of rice wine vinegar
1 Tablespoon of cornstarch
Description:
1. Press excess water out of the tofu with paper towels or rags, then slice tofu into ½ inch cubes. Sprinkle 2 T of cornstarch over the top of the tofu and gently toss with your hands so the tofu is coated lightly in the cornstarch.
2. In a large skillet start heating up your sesame oil and vegetable oil on medium to high heat.
3. Once the oils are heated up add the tofu and let it brown on all sides. While the tofu is browning, whisk the sauce together.
4. Once the tofu has browned evenly, add the sauce to the pan. Once the liquid is added to the pan, it becomes very sticky quick, so continue to mix. Toss the tofu around to coat thoroughly, remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and you're ready to serve it!
